The Story:
1988: Back then Amsterdam wasn’t the clean, cosmopolitan paradise that it is today. Back then there was a lot more grime, a lot more crime, and a lot more of what some might call “a good time”. In this city game, you will take on the role of a grizzly detective, with a gun by your side and whiskey on your breath. A body has turned up on the streets, and you are needed to help solve the case.
Based on our award-winning digital experience, this new version brings the intrigue and mystery back where it belongs: on the streets!

Visit three bars in Amsterdam’s Red Light District, solve a series of puzzles, and piece your way to the answer in this true-crime detective adventure.
Mystery City Games is a mix of a scavenger hunt, an escape room, and a pub crawl. It’s an experience in Amsterdam like no other and should definitely be included in your top things to do in Amsterdam!
What do we need to play?
Comfortable walking shoes and a spirit of adventure. At the start of the experience, you will go to the first pub and pick up the materials you need to start the game. You will need a phone with data to communicate with your police captain along the way (no download necessary).
Where is it?
The game starts at Bierfabriek at Nes 67. Along the way, you will visit three different breweries, ending at de Prael, just near Central Station. This game takes you to three different breweries in Amsterdam’s famous Red Light District. Most of the game takes place indoors, making this the perfect activity for a cold, rainy day!
In this Mystery City Game you will:
– Visit 3 bars and solve a series of challenges to collect clues and solve the case
– Explore the neighborhood, finding details in Amsterdam’s architecture and hidden corners
– Follow a true story from the city’s history as you race against the clock or compete with your friends, family, or colleagues
