In this event, your group will be broken into teams that:
- Race through the city following a treasure map past must-see attractions and secret corners
- Collaborate to solve escape room puzzles
- Unlock locks on a treasure box in order to solve the mystery
- Compete with your classmates to win
- Learn real stories from Amsterdam’s history!

Details
What is it?
Mystery City Games are a mix between a treasure hunt, escape room, and a self-guided walking tour – all based on real stories from history. In this scavenger hunt, groups are divided into teams of up to 6 players. Each team follows a treasure map to visit five different locations, completes a series of puzzles, and unlocks locks on a treasure box. Along the route they learn about a real story from the city’s history. The team that solves the mystery first will win a special prize.
What will we do?
- Follow an ancient treasure map as you walk through Amsterdam city center with your team discovering hidden corners and iconic city sites such as: Nieuwmarkt, Old Church, Canal Belt, and Westermarkt
- Solve puzzles while exploring and having fun with your classmates
- Compete to win in this unique school outing – winners get a special prize
- Learn true stories from the city’s history and Golden Age
What is included in the event?
For school groups, we have a special offer.

How much does it cost?
The price is €15 per student (including VAT) for students up to 18 years old. Teachers do not have to pay.
Is it suitable for groups?
Suitable for groups of all sizes. If you are planning an event for more than 150 students, we can also accommodate your students. Please contact us for more information.

The Story:
The secretive Order of the Rosy Cross is looking for new members. In order to prove your worth, you must solve their ancient mystery and uncover the identity of one of their historic members, known to you only as A Secret Sender. In this outdoor escape game, explore Golden Age Amsterdam and search the history and architecture for clues to the cryptic puzzles. Only the best can solve the mystery in time. What happens if it rains?
The event continues rain or shine! We have a limited number of umbrellas and ponchos available in case of rain, but it’s more comfortable to come prepared!
Where is it?
The game starts and ends by Mystery City HQ, Zwanenburgwal 178, just next to the Waterlooplein. The route covers approximately 3km and passes by five key sites in the city.
