What is it?
Mystery City Games are a mix between a treasure hunt, escape room, and walking tour. It’s a bit like the Da Vinci Code – it’s about using clues hidden in the architecture of the city and magical objects to solve a mystery. It’s an outdoor escape room like no other and should definitely be included in your ‚top 10 things to do in Sintra‘! No app or phone is needed – we think treasure hunts are more fun with real treasure maps, locks, and beautiful pieces.
The Story:
King Ferdinand II has a secret. Follow in his footsteps around this magical town on a romantic tour past Sintra’s parks, mosasics, and castles. Along the way, you’ll learn stories of the town and the many (in)famous royals that have lived here through the centuries. Pay attention… you will not be the first to fall in love with Sintra.
How It Works:
- You will meet the Game Master to pick up a backpack containing all of the materials that you need to play: treasure maps, boxes, locks, and beautiful tools
- Follow an ancient treasure map as you walk through Sintra city center discovering must-see city sites and monuments
- Solve puzzles while exploring Sintra‘ top attractions and having fun with your friends or family on a holiday, bachelorette party, or weekend out. If you only have one day in Sintra, this is the way to see it!
- Learn true stories from the city’s history

Where is it?
The game takes place in Sintra, a 30 minute train ride from Lisbon city center. It starts and ends close to the Sintra train station, where you will arrive. The route covers 3 km and passes by five key sites in the city: Volta do Duche, Sintra old town, Fountain Pisões, National Palace and Town Hall.
